Generations of athletes grew up playing on Mielke Field. Located across the street from Robbinsdale High School, the athletic field named for former Robbinsdale principal, Milo Mielke, was actually in the City of Crystal. Mielke retired in 1968. He spent 39 years in public education and is fondly remembered as president of the Lions Club. In 1993, the area was redeveloped and a Cub Foods grocery opened on the site of the old football field.
