Our Next Member Meeting is Tuesday, November 24th

David Leohardt will join us to discuss the history of Robbinsdale’s Terrace Theatre and the historical importance of movie theatres all over Minnesota. David Leonhardt serves as the board chairman for our Save the Historic Terrace group. “Save the Terrace” started as a facebook group The group grew and currently has the support of at least 2100 local theater enthusiasts. Last year, “Save the Terrace” took a few steps off the little screen and into the real world. Their efforts are currently being organized as part of the Robbinsdale Historical Society. Under David’s leadership the groups efforts to save the historic Terrace Theatre have received local and nationwide media attention. Last summer David presented the city council with a petition asking them to issue no demolition permits for the theater building. The petition had 2,161 signatures. In August, Denis Gardner, National Register Historian for the Minnesota State Historic Preservation Office, noted that the Terrace is “one of the most distinctive buildings in Robbinsdale”. Join us as we celebrate the history of this amazing theatre and our efforts to save it.
