October Membership Meeting Minutes

MEMBERSHIP MEETING OF OCTOBER 24, 2017

President Diane Jacobson McGee opened the October meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Secretary’s report had been mailed recently and there were no questions or additions.

Dean Cummings, Treasurer, gave his report.

Members were reminded that dues for the coming year of $15.00 are due soon and can be mailed to the Robbinsdale Historical Society at 4915 42nd Avenue North, Robbinsdate MN 55422 or can be paid at a membership meeting. (On line payment also accepted.)

Diane said we had 90 guests in the Museum since last month’s meeting. Visits are always encouraged on Fridays and Saturdays where a cup of coffee is also available along with answers about our history and other conversations.

Earl Johnston reported that commemorative plaques are being installed: the Nassett Store, Chase Hamburger Inn and the Hotel Columbia.

Pete Richie is working on a “post card book” with tear-off cards showing Robbinsdale’s history. Osterhus Printing is participating in this venture.

Another book available is one on the Ewald Dairy (and the iconic cows’ sculpture by Robbinsdale’s Bob Johnson now moved to the Minnesota State Fair Grounds). Bill Ewald will be our March speaker.

November 28tb Membership Meeting will have Steve Carlisle of the Wicked Wort as speaker.

Treats for this meeting are from Joel Peterson and Jerry Therrien and by Corrine Jones. Diane said we need folks to sign up for bringing treats to future meetings.

The “sign in” table is hosted by Dode Dougherty and Betty Anderson.

Today’s guest speaker was Susanne Adler, a specialist on Amy Robbins Ware, daughter of the founding family of Robbinsdale. Amy was a “woman before her time” and exceptionally accomplished. She was a volunteer in Europe during the First World War among other things.

Approximately 20 people attended this meeting.
