Inscriptions and markings
Inscription / marking Leo J. Ambrose, left from Fort Snelling May 21, 1942. He
went to Camp Francis Warren for basic training, then to Camp
Gordon where he earned his Sgt’s Stripes. He shipped out of
San Fran. for the South Pacific where he was wounded by
sniper fire. He came back through San Francisco and to camp
Gordon and was discharged 1/27/44. He was in the 315th
Ordinance.

photo of Leo Ambrose before shipping out to the Pacific for
action during World War II, where he was wounded.
