Exemplary Edith

Edith Robbins Daniel, Robbinsdale, of Colonial ancestry, daughter of Andrew Bonney Robbins and Adelaide Walker Robbins. As college student and teacher she began writing poems. Boston critics pronounced her “foremost writer of children’s verse to-day.” She is a graduate of the University of Minnesota; member Pi Beta Phi, has traveled extensively at home and abroad; was principal of Madelia High school, taught in East and Central high schools, Minneapolis; specialized in real estate in her father’s office and with her sister Amy Robbins Ware conducts “Andrew B. Robbins Estate.”and Robbinsdale Insurance and Loan Agency, in 1924 building and financing homes for children of their father’s clients of the ’90s, and own the Robbinsdale Hy-Way Tea House. During the war Mrs. Daniel cut and directed making thousands of garments in the work rooms at T. B. Walker offices and residence of Mrs. Charles S. Pillsbury, shipped to France, Belgium, Italy, by special government permit.Mrs. Daniel in 1924 was school director and clerk, Independent District 24, re-elected by record vote. She spent 1922 in Boston, as writer and advisor for Gunn and Company’s graded music education song books, used in Minneapolis and elsewhere. Her contributions appear under five pen names containing “Robbins.” “Walker” or “Barlow.” Inspiration for this work she credits to her pupils, her nephew, Lewis Robbins Gillette and the collaboration of her eleven year old daughter Helen Mary Robbins, seen in the picture with her mother. Mrs. Daniel is a member of D. A. R., Parent Teachers club, League of Women Voters, Business Woman’s club, former secretary Tourist club, member Thursday musical.
