The Robbinsdale City Band

Tracing their roots back to 1908 when the village fathers accepted a proposal to form a village band, the Robbinsdale City Band has become arguably the best known civic sponsored musical organization in the upper mid-west. It’s rise to fame came under the directorship of Paul W. Larson at the end of World War II. Following Larson’s return to the University of Minnesota, band member Robert H. Mendenhall claimed the podium and the rest is history. The winner of numerous awards for musicianship as well as marching skills, the Robbinsdale City Band claimed countless awards in the surrounding area and the widely heralded Aquatennial Parades. The Minnesota State Fair competition awarded trophies and banners to the Robbinsdale City Band year after year.
